COLUMBUS, Ga. – The LaGrange College softball team lost both of their two games at the NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic in non-conference action on Friday at the South Commons Softball Complex in Columbus, Georgia.
GAME 1 – MOUNT UNION 8, LAGRANGE 1
- Down 5-0 in the bottom of the fourth, the Panthers got on the board when junior leftfielder Hannah Barnett (Douglasville, Ga.) singled up the middle to drive in freshman shortstop Kamie Gibby (McDonough, Ga.).
- The Raiders, however, would answer with three runs in the top of the sixth to pull out the win.
- The Panthers scattered five hits on the day with Gibby, senior pitcher Claire Chamberlain (Rome, Ga.), freshman second baseman Addison Gibboney (Kennesaw, Ga.), senior first baseman Jenna Yeary (Loganville, Ga.) getting the others.
- Gibboney allowed just one earned run in three innings of relief.
GAME 2 – LAGRANGE 3, PFEIFFER 5
- In the top of the second, Chamberlain hit an RBI groundout to drive in Barnett as the Panthers went up 1-0.
- Down 4-1 in the top of the sixth, sophomore centerfielder Addi Grace Dennis (Grayson, Ga.) hit a line drive to center to plate sophomore infielder Kayla Helms (Dallas, Ga.) and freshman first baseman Bailey Gamel (Dallas, Ga.).
- Chamberlain finished three-for-four while sophomore catcher Emma Seymour (Carrollton, Ga.) went two-for-two.

- LaGrange is back on the field on Saturday at the NFCA's when they play SUNY Cortland and Pacific Lutheran.
