Softball picks up first CCS win against Covenant Friday

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The LaGrange College softball team split their doubleheader against visiting Covenant College in Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) action on Friday at the LC Softball Complex in LaGrange, Georgia.

GAME 1 – LAGRANGE 2, COVENANT 0
  • Senior pitcher Claire Chamberlain (Rome, Ga.) found herself in a pitchers' duel with Covenant College's Charley Clark (Mt. Juliet, Tenn.) as the contest remained scoreless through three and a half innings of play.
  • The Panthers finally broke the stalemate in the bottom of the fourth as Kamie Gibby (McDonough, Ga.) rifled a double into left field to score Cannon Ramsey (Tallahassee, Fla.) and give her squad the 1-0 advantage.
  • Ramsey would add an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning as she laid down a double to force a run scored off a throwing error. LC would ultimately seal the deal to win the contest 2-0 for their first conference win of the 2026 campaign.
GAME 2 – LAGRANGE 1, COVENANT 5
  • Game two seemed very much similar to the first tilt, as the game remained scoreless through four innings of action.
  • LaGrange once again struck first as Ramsey notched an RBI single to put the Red and Black up 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning.
  • Things got away from the Panthers late as the Scots were able to notch five runs in the sixth and seventh innings to split the doubleheader with the 5-1 win.
UP NEXT
  • LaGrange is back on the field on Saturday when they host Maryville College for a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader.
