Men's Lacrosse drops home-opener to Point

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The LaGrange College men's lacrosse team lost 19-5 to the visiting Point University Skyhawks in the Battle of Highway 29 on Saturday at Callaway Stadium in LaGrange, Georgia.

THE BASICS
Score:                  LaGrange 5, Point 19
Records:             Panthers 0-4 | Skyhawks 5-1

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • LC looked ready to play as head coach Carter Brand's unit took their home turf for the first time this season. Senior defenseman Lawrence Johnson-Chambers (Birmingham, Ala.) and sophomore defenseman Jackson Ball (North Cobb, Ga.) traded goals in the first five minutes to put the good guys up 2-0 early.
  • A 13-1 run by Point would sadly have the visiting Skyhawks up 13-3 at halftime.
  • Junior midfielder Candler Woods (Macon, Ga.) netted a pair of goals in the second half for LaGrange, as his squad would unfortunately fall 19-5.
  • Junior midfielder Adam Jones (Maryville, Tenn.) led LC with five ground balls, in addition to one goal off four shots on cage.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Alex Mann (Peachtree City, Ga.) finished with 13 saves in net for the Panthers.
UP NEXT
  • LaGrange is back on the field on Saturday, Mar. 7 when they travel to Oglethorpe University for a 12:00 p.m. game in Atlanta, Ga.
