LAGRANGE, Ga. – The LaGrange College women's basketball team won 78-65 against visiting Maryville College in Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) action on Saturday afternoon at the Mariotti Gymnasium in LaGrange, Georgia. With the victory, the Panthers open their conference schedule with a 3-0 record.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Panthers led 41-30 at halftime, only to watch the Scots pull to within four with 6:04 remaining in the third quarter off a steal and a fastbreak layup from Maryville junior guard Ella Tharpe (Knoxville, Tenn.). LaGrange answered with a 10-2 run to give themselves some breathing room and the visitors never threatened again.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- LaGrange senior guard Amanda Mclendon (Orlando, Fla.) dominated inside with 18 points, seven rebounds, five blocks and three steals to lead the Panthers while senior guard Laila Battle (Smyrna, Ga.) matched her with 18 points to go along with four rebounds, three steals and three assists while going four-of-eight from behind the arc.
- Maryville junior guard Emily Wilson (Knoxville, Tenn.) led the Scots with 14 points and four assists while junior forward Kadence Stoner (Columbia, Tenn.) contributed 12 points, six boards and three blocks.
- Rebounding and three-point shooting proved decisive advantages for the Panthers. LC shot 50 percent from behind the arc while Maryville managed only 20 percent. They also had a 46-28 edge in rebounding.
UP NEXT
- LaGrange is back on the court on Tuesday when they travel to Belhaven University for a 3:00 p.m. game in CCS play.
