MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The LaGrange College women's volleyball team tasted sweet retribution at the Huntingdon Tournament hosted by Huntingdon College on Saturday at Catherine Dixon Roland Arena in Montgomery, Alabama, falling to the University of St. Thomas Celts in straight sets before dispatching conference rivals Piedmont University, who eliminated the Panthers from playoff contention in 2024.
ST. THOMAS 3, LAGRANGE 0 (8-25, 15-25, 21-25)
- LaGrange freshman middle blocker Kaitlyn Smith (Buckeye, Ariz.) led the Red and Black with seven kills against the Celts, adding four digs to her credit as well.
- Freshman outside hitter Jasmine Gross (Antioch, Tenn.) posted a team-high 10 digs and 6.5 points.
- St. Thomas junior left side Carly Lange (Bellville, Tex.) frustrated LC's attacking efforts, racking up 17 digs against the Panthers.
LAGRANGE 3, PIEDMONT 0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-12)
- Gross hit her stride against the Lions, posting 13 kills to spark the Panther offense.
- Sophomore setters Rebecca Miranda (Snellville, Ga.) and Julia Damico (North Port, Fla.) each hit the double-digit mark in assists for LaGrange with respective totals of 10 (Miranda) and 19 (Damico).
After eeking out two close battles to go up 2-0 in the match, LC completely enforced their will in the third frame as six different Panthers found their name on the scoresheet en route to a satisfying straight-set victory to cap off the weekend.
