LAGRANGE, Ga. – Sophomore goalkeeper
Sawyer Williams (Johns Creek, Ga.) of the LaGrange College men's soccer team has been named the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending August 31
st, 2025 in the first week of CCS weekly awards.
Williams helped the Panthers to a 1-1 tie at Pensacola Christian College on Saturday to open their season, tallying five saves off six shots on goal.
"Sawyer was outstanding for us against Pensacola." LaGrange head coach
Ryan Dickson said of his second-year net-minder. "He made several crucial one-on-one saves and showed great composure throughout the match. The only goal he conceded was from the penalty spot, and his performance fully deserved being named Defensive Player of the Week."
