CONYERS, Ga. - The LC Men's Golf Team finished ninth on Easter weekend (Apr. 19-20) at the Discover Dekalb Emory Invitational. The tournament was hosted by Emory University at Cherokee Run Golf Club in Conyers, Ga.
Tournament Recap
The Panthers played 36 holes on Saturday (Apr. 19). The Panthers came roaring out of the gates, as the team was lingering on the top three of the leaderboard through nine holes. LC faltered as they made the turn, as a tough Cherokee Run bit back at LaGrange to force a deflating 313 in round one.
Trey Galbraith led the Panthers with a 75 in round one, leading with 11 pars and two birdies, respectively.
Round two was a little better for LaGrange, shooting a 308 to put them in ninth position. LC was led in the afternoon round by sophomore
Jay Manley, who shot a second-round 74. The highlight of the round for the Johns Creek, Ga native was holing out for eagle on the par five 14th hole from a greenside bunker. The Panthers looked to make a run in the final round after their improvement on day one.
LC improved by one in the final round, shooting a 307. LaGrange, who started on the back nine in round three, once again got off to a quick start. Manley provided another spark, with the Rivers Academy grad going five under in a five-hole stretch to help push the Panthers to the final nine holes. The Panthers struggled on the final nine but managed to hold ninth position.
Eli Rogers led LC in the final round, shooting a 75 to back up his 74 in round two.
