SAVANNAH, Ga - The LaGrange College Men's Golf finished in 11th place at the Port City Classic to begin their spring season (Mar. 3-4). The tournament was held at Savannah Country Club in Savannah, Georgia. The event was hosted by Berry College. 
 
Tournament Recap
The Panthers started the wrap-around season by playing two rounds on Monday (Mar. 3). Through one round, LaGrange was in ninth place after shooting 311. Sophomore Jay Manley put together a solid performance, leading the team with a 75. As the day grew on, conditions started to worsen with winds blustering and chilly temperatures setting in at dusk. LC shot 308 in round two, placing them two notches back at 11th. Junior Martin Prlender put on a tremendous display, shooting a 74 in round two thanks to great touch around the green. His 12-shot improvement from round one put the Panthers in position for a top ten finish. 

In the final round, LaGrange held strong in brutal conditions. Down a man because of sickness, LC shot 316 to hold their eleventh-place finish. With the wind blowing 20-25 miles an hour, Junior Eli Rogers shot the fifth-best round of the day, shooting 73. The Athens, Ga native birdied four of his last nine holes after making an eight on his first hole of the day. The team's finish placed them ahead of conference foes Maryville and Belhaven as the Panthers will look to add to their resume throughout the spring season.

LaGrange was led individually by Rogers. He finished in a tie for 17th at 14 over par, shooting rounds of 77-77-73, respectively. Click here to view the full results.

LC will head back to the Atlantic coast in just two and a half weeks to play in the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational on March 21-23.
