LAGRANGE, Ga. - The LaGrange College Men's Lacrosse Team (2-4, 2-2 USA South) defeated bitter rivals Huntingdon College (2-7, 1-3 USA South) by a final score of 14-6 on Wednesday (Mar. 26) at Panther Field.
Game Summary
The first period was all-LC, snagging a lightning-quick 3-0 lead to throw the game's first blow. The visitors responded with a goal of their own to make it 3-1 in an attempt to slow down LaGrange's momentum. The effort to do so was unsuccessful, as the Panthers notched a pair of goals to end the period up 5-1 and absolutely rolling.
The second frame saw less fireworks from an offensive standpoint, as both sides were deadlocked at the start of the period. Momentum quickly shifted to the Hawks' side as they scored back-to-back goals in less than two seconds apart to make it 5-3 with just over eight minutes left in the first half. LC was able to reclaim some of that momentum, tallying another goal with 25 seconds left to take a somewhat comfortable 6-3 lead into halftime.
The Panthers completely ran away with it in the second half, outscoring Huntingdon 8-3 in one of the team's best offensive outings of the season.
Nicholas Murciano got things rolling with a pair of goals, assisted by
Baylor Montoya and
Tyler Abrams, respectively.
Tristan Cuda provided the back-breaking goal off the man-advantage late in the fourth period, while
Candler Woods,
Aiden Psalmonds and
Jackson Ball capped things off with a three-piece to secure the 14-6 final for LC and launch them into fifth place in the USA South standings.
Panthers of the Game
Psalmonds led the offensive showcase for LaGrange with five goals off eight shots on goal.
