Panther Women's Golf finishes first event of inaugural spring season

STATESBORO, Ga. - LC Women's Golf started their first spring campaign in school history this past Monday and Tuesday (Mar. 9-10), competing at the South Georgia Invitational at the Georgia Southern University Golf Course. The event, hosted by Berry College, was the Panthers' second scheduled event of the Spring, as the Music City Shootout was canceled due to weather in late February.

Tournament Details
LaGrange, competing as individuals, battled tough weather and course conditions for two days. Emma McCoy led LC in day one, shooting a 96, including a solid finishing stretch of three consecutive pars. She was followed by Alexa Fontanez and Cannon Ramsey, with scores of 100 and 98, respectively.

The Panthers improved in round two. McCoy and fellow freshman, Alexa Fontanez, both improved significantly. Fontanez's success was helped by keeping large numbers off the card, improving by seven shots and shooting 93. McCoy was propelled by birdie success. The Carrollton, Ga native birdied three holes in a row to help push her to a score of 89, seven shots better than day one.
