MARYVILLE, Tn. - LC Women's Basketball (10-10, 4-7 Collegiate Conference of the South) ended the road trip this weekend disappointed as they dropped their second game to the Maryville Scots (9-12, 8-4 CCS) by a final score of 84-74 Saturday. The effort was led by
Laila Battle, who scored 24 points in her first double-double performance of the season.
Game Summary
The Panthers enjoyed a hot start, grabbing a 5-0 lead in the first few minutes of play. As the quarter wore on, Maryville began to step up their game, eventually leap-frogging LC to take a 17-12 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was very much a power struggle, as LaGrange did all they could to fend off an MC pull-away effort. Falling behind by as much as 15, the Panthers found themselves with plenty of work to do at the half as the host Scots led 42-28.
All things considered, LC had a much-improved second half, outscoring Maryville in the third and fourth quarters 47-42. Unfortunately for the Panthers, however, the Scots 42 second half points would be enough to grant them the victory as they held on to win by 10 in an 84-74 final.
