Frazier notches 10th win as Panther Head Coach in 34-point rout of Wesleyan

LAGRANGE, Ga. - On National Girls & Women In Sports Day, Coach Destiny Lane-Frazier and her LaGrange College Women's Basketball Team (10-8, 4-5 Collegiate Conference of the South) celebrated with a momentous 34-point victory over the Wesleyan College Wolves (0-18, 0-11 CCS) on Tuesday night (Feb. 4), to tally their 10th win of the season in a 69-35 final from Mariotti Gym. The win also marked Frazier's first 10-win season as Panther Head Coach since joining the program in July of 2024.

"It feels incredible, and I'm truly grateful for this milestone. Being in this position as a head college coach is a blessing, and reaching 10 wins so quickly is something I don't take for granted," Frazier noted after the Panthers' tremendous win. "This group has shown an incredible amount of grit and resilience. They've faced adversity in many forms; coaching changes, roster adjustments, injuries, you name it."

"Transitioning to a new system and style of play isn't easy, yet they've embraced every challenge head-on. As I always tell my team, adversity doesn't build character, it reveals it. And what I see in this group is toughness, determination and a relentless mindset," she said. "They refuse to give up, and in many ways, they are a direct reflection of me; fighters who keep pushing forward no matter the obstacles."

When asked how she views the team's attitude heading into the final stretch of the regular season, Coach Frazier mentioned that the mindset is "all about refocusing and locking in to finish the regular season strong." She also recognized her squad's journey through the highs and lows of the season, from the stretch where the Panthers won seven of eight games, to their recent stint where they lost five of the last six contests before tonight.

"Right now, it's about getting back to that peak level of play and closing out the season the way we envisioned. We've learned a lot about ourselves over the past few weeks, and our goal is to use that growth to propel us into postseason play with confidence, energy and a winning mentality. . . While I'm proud of this achievement, my focus remains on continuing to build, improve and push for even more success with this team."

Game Summary
The Panthers fell behind early as the Wolves took advantage of a quick start by grabbing a 6-4 lead through the first five minutes of play. Unfazed by the sluggish start, however, LaGrange was able to kickstart their offense as they rattled off an 11-4 run to close out the quarter, leading 15-10 after one.

LC's offensive spark continued on into the second quarter, as they claimed a 12-point lead with five minutes left in the half. Despite a late rally from Wesleyan, the Panthers were able to regain the momentum as they finished the first half strong up 34-18 heading into the locker rooms.

LaGrange took a stranglehold on the game in the third quarter, outscoring the visiting Wolves 22-13 as they held a 56-31 lead heading into the final frame. The Panthers finished strong in the fourth quarter to secure their 10th win of the season, setting up what should be a strong finish in the remaining seven tilts of the regular season.
