LAGRANGE, Ga. - LC Panthers Basketball (13-11, 6-8 Collegiate Conference of the South) hosts conference foes Covenant College (9-14, 5-10 CCS) on Saturday (Feb. 11) inside the friendly confines of Historic Mariotti Gymnasium. LC will start the afternoon festivities with a Senior Day celebration, honoring Brittney Chavez, Zyhia Johnson, Kendra Roberts and Amya Walker.
 
The Matchup  
The Panthers return home after playing two conference tilts on the road in just three days. On Tuesday (Feb. 18), LaGrange downed the Wolves of Wesleyan College by a score of 74-48, with Johnson and Laila Battle combining for 41 points in the blowout. On Thursday (Feb. 20), LC snuck by the Scotties of Agnes Scott College by just two, 81-79. Johnson again helped push the Panthers over the finish line, securing her third double-double of the season, scoring 21 and adding 10 rebounds. The Panthers will look to extend their win streak to three games on Saturday as they enter conference tournament play next week. 
 
As for the Scots, they come in on a seven-game losing streak, with six of those by 10 or more points. Their last win was an overtime classic against the Panthers, where they squeaked out a two-point victory, 88-86. Covenant will look for a season sweep against LC for the first time since the 2017-18 season. 
 
Players to Watch 
Johnson will be a target to watch for all 94 feet Saturday afternoon for LaGrange. The two-time, All-CCS star leads the team in points, averaging 18.0 points per game, as well as a career-high 6.3 rebounds per game.
 
Abby Witt will be key for the Scots if they want to pull out a victory against the Panthers. She averages 8.3 points & 6.4 rebounds per game, respectively. She also has 42 steals and 25 blocks on the season as well. Watch for her on mop-up duty on the boards and her defensive presence when LC has the basketball.
