SHREVEPORT, La. - McMurry kept LaGrange winless on the season with a 12-2 win over the Panthers on Sunday (Feb. 9) at Centenary College's Shehee Stadium.
McMurry used a three-run second inning and a four-run third to build a 7-0 lead. The Panthers got on the board in their half of the third on
Jorge Fragoso's double, scoring
David Smigelski.
Colby Zinser scored LC's second run in the fourth as
Noah Preuer reached on a fielder's choice. Zinser and
Adam Dorn led the Panthers' nine-hit attack with two hits each.
Parker Copeland (0-1) took the loss on the mound for LC. Copeland allowed seven runs, five of those earned, in 2-2/3 innings. Copeland was followed by
Nick Morgan,
Caden Hare,
Keller Morey and
Bryce Stephens.
The Panthers host the LaGrange Classic beginning Friday, Feb. 13. LC takes on Pfeiffer at 2 p.m. The Panthers face No. 20 Adrian on Saturday and close out the tournament Sunday against Berry.
