Men’s Hoops Hits One Hundred, Tops Sewanee

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The LaGrange College men's basketball team won 100-81 over visiting Sewanee: The University of the South in non-conference action on Wednesday evening at the Mariotti Gymnasium in LaGrange, Georgia.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The score was hotly contested throughout most of the first half until the Panthers went on 16-3 run capped off with a riveting dunk by LaGrange sophomore guard Tyler Harrington (Winter Park, Fla.) with 33 seconds left in the opening period as LC went into halftime leading 55-38.
  • In the second half the Tigers chipped away at their deficit, pulling to within seven off three straight free throws by Sewanee sophomore guard Reid Carrier (Greensboro, N.C.) with 15:27 left in the game to set the score at 64-57.
  • The Panthers would again use a big run to pull away, using a 21-3 run capped off with a pair of free throws by LaGrange senior guard Micah McAllister (Newnan, Ga.) to go up 89-63 with 6:07 remaining as the Tigers never threatened again.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The Panthers were led by Harrington and junior guard Devin Dowell (LaGrange, Ga.) with 21 points apiece. Harring shot 75 percent from the floor with five steals and four assists.
  • Sewanee sophomore forward Fletcher Bigham (Charlotte, N.C.) led the Tigers with a double-double, scoring 22 points with ten rebounds and three blocks.
  • McAllister finished with 13 points, eight boards and four steals while senior guard Brodie Scott (Athens, Ga.) went for eleven points and eight rebounds.
  • Carrier added 14 points and four assists for the Tigers.
  • LaGrange sophomore forward Kani Rashied-Henry (Tyrone, Ga.) filled the stat line with seven points, six rebounds, six assists, three steals and a career-high seven blocks.
  • Collectively, the Panthers were aces from downtown, going 12-of-24 from behind the arc.

  • LaGrange is back on the court on Saturday when they travel to Troy University for an exhibition game.
