HOW IT HAPPENED
- Trailing for most of the game, an 8-1 run late in the third quarter capped off by a three-point play from LaGrange senior guard Laila Battle (Smyrna, Ga.) gave the Panthers their first lead of the game as they went into the final stanza with a 48-42 lead.
- The Panthers took a nine point lead off a three-point play by LaGrange freshman guard Alexandria Berk (Columbus, Ga.) with 2:01 to go in the game. That was when the Lynx rallied, going on an 8-0 run capped off with a jumper from Rhodes senior guard Avery Marsh (Little Rock, Ark.) with 28 seconds left in the game and the visitors trailing by only one. Despite two missed free throws after the foul, Marsh missed a jumper at the other end and the Panthers were able to increase their lead back to two when Battle went one-of-two from the line. Rhodes junior guard Alyssa Bongiovanni (Lutz, Fla.) had a chance to tie it at the buzzer but the shot came up just short as the Panthers escaped with the win.
