DEMOREST, Ga. – The LaGrange College women's basketball team picked up their first win of the 2025-2026 season with a 84-76 victory over Sewanee University at the CCS / SAA Classic hosted by Piedmont University in non-conference action on Sunday at the Cave Arena in Demorest, Georgia.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Clinging to a 41-39 lead at halftime, the Panthers found themselves down by four in the opening moments of the third quarter after back-to-back threes by the Tigers. LaGrange came storming back with an 8-2 run, outscoring Sewanee by 13 for the remainder of the stanza, a run capped off with a three-point play from LC senior guard Laila Battle (Smyrna, Ga.) with one second left to go up 63-54. The Panthers held the Tigers off in the final quarter, securing their first win of the year.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Battle dominated for the Panthers, finishing with 27 points, seven rebounds, four assists and six steals all while shooting 50 percent from the floor.
- LaGrange senior guard Amanda Mclendon (Orlando, Fla.) posted 24 points with eight rebounds off 11-of-16 shooting from the floor.
- The Tigers were led by sophomore guard Hannah Cleveland (Hopedale, Ill.) netted 22 points with seven boards.
- Sewanee senior guard Olivia Falvey (Boston, Mass.) finished with 17 points and six rebounds.
- LaGrange freshman guard Alexandria Berk (Columbus, Ga.) shot five-of-nine for 12 points.
- Points off turnovers proved to be decisive for the Panthers, as they held a 22-12 edge for the day.
