LAGRANGE, Ga. – The LaGrange College women's soccer team lost 2-1 to visiting Piedmont University in Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) action on Wednesday evening at Panther Field in LaGrange, Georgia.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lions dominated possession in the first half, only for a tenacious Panther defense to answer the call. Piedmont had a 10-3 advantage in shots, but nevertheless the teams went into halftime still scoreless.
- In the 65th minute, LaGrange freshman forward Gabby Worthy (Bremen, Ga.) took a pass from senior forward Kaia King (Canton, Ga.) and blasted it towards the Piedmont goal. After initially stopping the shot with her hands, the momentum of the shot pushed the keeper back over the threshold for her team-leading sixth goal of the season by the rookie standout. Just like that the Panthers took a 1-0 lead.
- A mere 26 seconds later, however, the Lions would answer as Piedmont senior defender Jocelyn Maseda (Land O' Lakes, Fla.) took a pass from senior defender Paige Kluba (Cumming, Ga.) and scored to tie it up at 1-1.
- With just 1:06 remaining in the game, the Lions were awarded a corner kick. Piedmont senior defender senior Sophie Wells (Charlotte, N.C.) put a beautiful kick down, finding freshman midfielder Lora Kim (Duluth, Ga.) for the finish as the visitors won out, 2-1.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- LaGrange junior goalkeeper Anna Wright (Sharpsburg, Ga.) tallied 11 saves on the night for the Panthers in a heroic performance.
- Piedmont senior goalkeeper Maggie Leger (Oswego, Ill.) finished with six stops on the evening for the Lions.
UP NEXT
- LaGrange is back on the field on Saturday when they play host to Wesleyan College in a 2:00 p.m. game. The Panthers will be recognizing their graduating senior class as part of senior day prior to the game.
- Piedmont plays their next game at home against Covenant College, that also on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
