SENIOR DAY
- Prior to the game, the Panthers' women's soccer program and the LaGrange College athletics department took a few moments to recognize their graduating senior class as part of senior day. This year's class has surely given their all not only on the field, but to the entire LaGrange community as a whole. Although their time on the pitch may be coming to an end, they will forever be a part of the Panther family.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The match opened very slow as the Panthers awaited the perfect moment to strike. The Wolves stood firm, however, not offering many mistakes for LC to pounce on as the contest remained without itrs opening goal for over 20 minutes to start. That all changed when senior defender Makenzi Maltezo (Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.) found the back of the net off a beautiful cross from sophomore midfielder Jordyn Rawlings (Newnan, Ga.) to give LaGrange the early 1-0 advantage.
- Freshman midfielder Hannah New (Villa Rica, Ga.) doubled the Panthers lead as she buried a ball from senior forward Kaia King (Canton, Ga.) past the outstretched arms of Wolves netminder Brooke Hankinson.
- Things took an interesting turn late in the opening half as Wesleyan cut the Red and Black's lead in half with a shot from Toni Rogers that just trickled in through a crowded netfront. The score would hold 2-1 in favor of LaGrange heading into the intermission.
- The second half was marked by an abundance of high-danger attempts for LC as they peppered Hankinson, who had a heroic showing in net all afternoon for the visitors. As the match drew near its end, however, the shots finally fell for the Panthers as Gabby Worthy (Bremen, Ga.), Kirstin Vaughn (LaGrange, Ga.) and Morgan Sims (Wetumpka, Ala.) each added a tally to their season totals to give their squad the comfortable 5-1 senior day win.
