HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game saw its first dramatic moment in the eighth minute when Piedmont senior goalkeeper Bobby Wood (Lowndes, Ga.) picked up a save on a penalty kick, leading to a Lions' possession that ended when sophomore forward Juliann Pimentel (Gainesville, Ga.) fed a pass to sophomore midfielder Mason Keith (Suwanee, Ga.) to beat the keeper and put the visitors up 1-0.
- In the 22nd minute, Piedmont senior forward Colin Vogel (Suwanee, Ga.) broke down the Panther defense and scored to make it 2-0 with an assist to junior defender Delroy Mattis (Valdosta, Ga.). That score would hold up going into halftime.
- In the 51st minute, Vogel would score his second goal of the game on an assist by Keith.
- The Panthers finally broke through a minute and a half later when LaGrange junior defender Dylan DePriest (Newnan, Ga.) headed one through off an assist from freshman midfielder Clay Kafsky (Clarkesville, Ga.) to get the hosts on the board.
- With 24:39 to go in the game, LaGrange senior forward Lucas Duke (Dexter, Ga.) would perform a perfect throw-in to find DePriest amidst a sea of defenders as the junior would finish for his third goal of the season, pulling the Panthers to within one.
- With 4:27 to go, LaGrange sophomore forward Kenny Pameni (Atlanta, Ga.) drew a foul in the box, setting up a penalty kick for Duke. The senior team captain calmly converted to tie the game up off his team-leading sixth goal of the season. Just like that it was a new game at 3-3.
- With 2:39 to go and the Lions awarded a free kick, LaGrange sophomore goalkeeper Sawyer Williams (Johns Creek, Ga.) made a thrilling save to keep the game knotted. Despite a furious effort by the Lions in the closing moments, the Panthers were able to hold on for the draw.
