LAGRANGE, Ga. – The LaGrange College men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against visiting Maryville College in Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) action on Friday evening at Panther Field in LaGrange, Georgia.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first half was hotly contested, with both teams battling fiercely for scant scoring opportunities. In the closing seconds of the period, Maryville junior forward Hayden Tate (Knoxville, Tenn.) blasted a shot at the Panther goal only to be stopped by LaGrange sophomore goalkeeper Sawyer Williams (Johns Creek, Ga.). The teams went into half time still scoreless.
- The second half opened along the same trends as the first, both teams struggling to take the advantage. The Scots finally broke the stalemate in the 61st minute when Maryville senior midfielder Collin Combs (Knoxville, Tenn.) broke through and scored to put the visitors up 1-0 off a shot to the lower right corner of the goal.
- With 26:09 to go, however, the Panthers found the equalizer when LaGrange senior forward Dylan Bailey (Marietta, Ga.) broke through the defense and found sophomore forward Connor DePriest (Newnan, Ga.) who finished for his third goal of the season, tying it up at 1-1.
- With 22 seconds left in the game, a red card went against the Panthers, forcing them to play a man down for the remainder. The Scots final shot went off the crossbar, and the game ended in a draw.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Williams tallied five saves on the night for the Panthers.
- Maryville senior goalkeeper Christian Alcaraz (Locust Grove, Ga.) posted six stops for the Scots.
- Shots on goal were 7-6 in favor of LaGrange.
- The Panthers, having once lost 36 straight to the Scots, are now 1-2-2 in their last five games against their longtime conference rivals.

- LaGrange is back on the field on Sunday when they travel to Warren Wilson College for a 4:00 p.m. game.
