LAGRANGE, Ga. – The LaGrange College women's volleyball team split their Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) tri-match on Saturday at the Mariotti Gymnasium in LaGrange, Georgia, falling short to the Scots of Maryville College in four sets before sweeping the Scotties of Agnes Scott College in the nightcap. The Panthers run their overall record to 7-15 and 5-3 in CCS action. It is their best start to a league schedule since 2018.
MARYVILLE 3, LAGRANGE 1 (26-24, 25-17, 22-25, 25-21)
- The Panthers gave a strong effort against one of the best teams in the conference in the Scots, nearly winning the first set before rallying to win the third. Receiving proved their Achilles' heel, as they gave up a season 17 service aces.
- LaGrange freshman outside hitter Alex Krabs (Boynton Beach, Fla.), last week's CCS Rookie of the Week, posted one of her best matches of the season, hitting .316 with 17 kills and nine digs.
- Freshman middle-blocker Kaitlyn Smith (Buckeye, Ariz.) added nine kills, two aces and two total blocks. Sophomore setter Julia Damico (North Port, Fla.) posted 30 set assists with 12 digs and three aces.
- Maryville freshman middle blocker Ruby Walton (Nashville, Tenn.) posted 21 kills and three aces while senior outside hitter Kylie Wilhelmi (Cherry Valley, Ill.) added 20 kills, ten digs and three aces.
AGNES SCOTT 0, LAGRANGE 3 (25-14, 25-11, 25-14)
- Against the Scotties, LaGrange sophomore outside hitter Kaitlin Gilchrist (Pelham, Ala.) had her best match of the season, hitting .538 with eight kills and eight digs with three aces.
- LaGrange senior middle-hitter Zentrina Choice (Sumter, S.C.) had six kills and no errors on eight attempts.
- Damico posted 16 set assists with four aces and seven digs.
