Game Recap: Women's Volleyball | | Danny Talbert

Panthers split home tri-match

LC Volleyball fell 3-0 to Tennessee Wesleyan University but beat Tuskegee University 3-1 in the second tri-match of the season (Sept. 7).

First Match Details
Today's opening game against the Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan University started off neck and neck. Through the first 14 points, the two teams traded punches until TWU was able to secure a 21-14 lead after going on a 7-0 run. The deficit was just too much to overcome, TWU took the first set 25-18. In the second set, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 12-4 lead after capitalizing on multiple LC errors. TWU held on to win the set 25-12. The Panthers would drop the third and final set 25-16. Ella Kahikina had a team-high seven kills and Emma Campbell led the way with six digs.

Second Match Details
In the game against the Golden Tigers of TU, both teams felt evenly matched up. During the first set, TU jumped out to a tight three-point lead after poor LC communication led to the Tigers scoring back-to-back points. The Panthers quickly recovered, tying the game at 13. In this set, Claire Titus was making great offensive plays at the net. The freshman kept the Golden Tigers on their toes each time she played the ball aggressively. TU held on to win the first set 25-18. Similarly to the first set, the game was back and fourth through the first few points. LC would grab a 25-23 second set win. In this victory, Zentrina Choice and Ella Kahikina both demonstrated their ability to create Panther points by using their powerful spikes. Just like the first two sets, the third came down to the wire. Thankfully, some great communication by the Panthers led to LC taking a 2-1 advantage going into the fourth. Despite TU grabbing a small lead to start the set, LC battled back to tie the game at 11-11. The Panthers fought to the very end, securing a 25-20 victory. LC won the match 3-1.

Top Panther Performer
Through the first two tri-matches, Ella Kahikina has been dominate on the court. In tonight's win, she finished with a team-high 25 kills and 12 digs.
