The LC Men's Soccer Team (2-5) hosts Covenant College (6-2-1) this Saturday (Sept. 28) at 3 p.m. in the first CCS match of the season. Due to inclement weather, be on the lookout for date and time changes. For the latest updates, follow the LC Athletics X (formally Twitter) account @LCPanthers. 

The Teams
The Panthers hold a 2-5 record following a tight 2-1 defeat handed to LC by Berry College (Sept. 22). This past week (Sept. 24), the CCS awarded Robel Teshome Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors thanks to the two goals he scored in back-to-back competitions. Teshome leads LC with 14 points after knocking in six goals and dishing out two assists. Through six starts, goalkeeper Andrew Cole maintains a 2-4 record with a solid .737 save percentage. 

The Scots of Covenant College's record improved to 6-2-1 following a 1-0 win over Emory College (Sept. 21). This season, CC picked up multiple victories against formidable opponents. Their resume includes three wins against tough ODAC competition, headlined by a shutout victory over the #3 ranked Washington and Lee University Generals (Sept. 7). Kade Theunissen has been on fire for the Scots this season. In nine appearances, Theunissen scored 19 points off of seven goals and five assists. In goal for the Scots is Eli Honeycutt. Through eight games, he posted a 6-1-1 record and a superb .829 save percentage. 

Players to watch
Goalie Andrew Cole and the LC defense are the Panthers to watch this week. Covenant's fast paced offense averages two goals off of their 11 shots per game, so expect Cole to be in the mix on Saturday. If the defense can slow Scots high-octane offense down, the Panthers can secure a CCS victory.
