The LaGrange College Men's Soccer Team (2-5-0) was handed a tough 2-1 loss Sunday afternoon (Sept. 22) to the Berry College Vikings (4-3-2).
Match Details
Despite being outshot 8-3 in the first half, LaGrange held their own against the Vikings. A costly yellow card in the LC box, however, earned Berry a penalty kick that put them in front 1-0 late in the opening half.
The Panthers' resolve was very evident in the second half as they ramped up the attack, which eventually earned them a penalty kick of their own as
Robel Teshome buried the equalizing tally. Unfortunately for LC, M Patrick Kelly had other plans as he put his team back in front in the 80th minute with a shot from outside the box which arched its way into the top-left corner to give them a 2-1 advantage late in the contest. The Panthers would put together one last rally to tie the match once again, but were unable to do so as time expired.
