The LaGrange College Panthers Women's Soccer Team (2-1-2) prevailed over the Centenary College Catahoula (0-2-0) by a final score of 1-0 Saturday (Sept. 14) thanks to late-game heroics from
Kaia King.
Match Details
Both teams were locked in a scoreless affair after the first half of play, as neither side was able to break through tough goalkeeping from
Anna Wright (LC) and Kaniyah Hill (CC).
Charlee Hunt,
Kaia King and
Morgan Sims each registered a shot on goal in the first half with King leading the way with two.
As the rain began to come down in the second half, the goals did not initially follow suit as both units remained scoreless late into the contest. The Panthers finally broke the stalemate, however, as
Kaia King zig-zagged her way into the box and deposited the game-winner into the back of the net in the 80th minute. The Catahoula of Centenary attempted to put together one last effort to net the equalizer, but were ultimately denied any real opportunity by strong defensive play from LaGrange who would end up walking away with the 1-0 victory.
