LaGrange College Football is gearing up for a road trip to South Carolina, ready to battle the Anderson University Trojans in a week two clash (Sept. 14).

The Teams
The Panthers are 0-1 after falling 57-12 to ETBU last Friday (Sept. 6). In that tough matchup, transfer QB Henry Brodnax completed 12 of his 26 throws for 108 yards and one 18-yard touchdown pass to Ashton Bryant. As mentioned in the game recap, Goldman Butler VI looked much more agile compared to last season. Instead of trying to run over every defender that got in his way, the athletic back picked from his arsenal of spin moves and stiff arms to gain extra yards on the stout Tigers defense. Butler finished with 80 rushing yards on 13 carries (6.1 yards per attempt). On defense, linebacker Dezmond Jones led the way with 11 tackles. The Panthers had four tackles for a loss and one pass break-up.

The Trojans of AU are currently 1-0 after winning their home opener 51-14 over St. Andrews University, an NAIA school competing in the Mid-South Conference (Sept. 7). This was actually the team's first ever game. The Division II school started the football program just two years ago. In their first victory, Tyler Wesley threw for 123 yards and three touchdowns after completing 9 of his 12 passes. Wesley is a Presbyterian College transfer. During his sophomore season (2023), he threw for 2,427 yards and 15 touchdowns, which is the second-most passing yards in a single season in PC's Division I history. On defense, redshirt junior Jerrod Ward led the team with five tackles in the Trojan win. As with many of the Trojan's starters, Ward is also a Division I transfer (Kennesaw State).

Key Factors
The Panthers must slow down the game and control the time of possession in order to secure a victory over the tough AU Trojans. Similarly to Northern Illinois University beating University of Notre Dame last Saturday (Sept. 7), if the game is a low scoring slug-fest, then do not count the Panthers out.
