Panthers start the season 2-0 after beating Pensacola Christian College 3-0 and Middle Georgia State University 3-2.
First Match DetailsÂ
LC started the season off with a 25-22 first set win.
Zentrina Choice and
Ella Kahikina both finished the set with four kills a piece. The Panthers grabbed this tight victory in-part thanks to LC securing five service aces to the Eagles' zero. LaGrange carried the momentum of the win into set two, quickly going up 6-2. LC kept this tight lead until PCC tied it at 20-20. The Panthers went on a 5-1 run to win the second set 25-21. LC jumped out to a 5-1 in the third set thanks to some superb communication by the Panthers' young core. The Eagles quickly recovered to tie the game at six-all. The score continued to go back and forth until two smart plays in a row by Choice helped extend the LC lead to 15-10. PCC clawed their way back to a 20-18 lead after capitalizing on multiple Panther mistakes. Coming out of a timeout, LC scored three unanswered points to reclaim a 22-21 lead and never looked back. The Panthers would go on to win 25-21.
Second Match DetailsÂ
The first set against MGSU was back and forth until the very end. LC was able to secure a 25-23 win after MGSU made multiple crucial attack errors. The Knights finished with 10 attack errors in this set alone. During the second set, early LaGrange errors allowed MGSU to jump out in front. Despite the Panthers' best efforts, MGSU held on to win 25-14. Similarly to the second set, MGSU was able to capitalize on LC mistakes and hold on to win. After going down 2-1, it felt like an LC victory could be out of reach. That was until the Panthers calmed down and started playing as a unit. Once LC was settled in, MGSU could not keep up. Each time the Knights scored, the Panthers would answer with two points of their own. LC won the third set 25-17 and the final set 15-10.
