LC hires Women's Flag Football Head Coach

The LaGrange College Athletic Department welcomes Breana Sumpter as the Head Coach of the new Panther Women's Flag Football program.

Prior to joining LaGrange College, Sumpter coached flag football and was an educator at Benjamin E. Mays High School (Atlanta, Ga.). From 2021-2024, seven of her players won individual region awards in flag football, including Player of the Year honors. Not only did she coach flag, she also served as the school's track and field throwing coach. Over the past three seasons, her athletes have earned a combined 15 medals, one being a first-place medal at the Georgia State Championship.

"We are thrilled to have Breana pilot our flag football program in its inaugural season," said Vice President for Athletics and Recreation Terlynn Olds. "She has a proven track record of success on the field, and we are confident she has the skills to build one of our newest sports into a championship program. "As a coach, she has helped players achieve regional awards. As an educator, she also understands the importance of academics to the Panther student-athlete experience."

In the state of Georgia, over 7,000 girls compete in high school flag football. The sport has exploded over the past few years and there are no signs of it slowing down. Kickoff for LC Flag Football is set for the spring of 2025.
