LC hand delivered Maryville College their first loss of the CCS Tournament with a game one 10-8 win in the CCS Championship. The Panthers will play the Scots at 2 p.m. today in game two, winner takes all. This game will be streaming

Eli Folds started on the mound for the Panthers in the CCS Championship. Typically in the relief position, this marked Folds first career start. In 41.2 innings pitched this season, Folds holds a team-best 2.38 ERA and a 4-3 W/L record. In yesterday's CCS Semifinal win, he struck out three batters in the one frame he pitched. The first Scot on the rubber was junior Mitchell Grannan. In 65.1 innings pitched, he has posted a 3.31 ERA and a 5-3 W/L record.
Joe Ruth started the game by shelling a home run to put the Panthers up 1-0 in the first. During the third, LC quickly loaded the bases without taking any outs.
Riley George extended the Panthers lead to 3-0 when he placed a two-run RBI into center.
Joe Ruth then hit a sacrifice fly RBI to give LC a 4-0 advantage in the third.
Riley George finished the scoring run when he walked home after a wild pitch got lost in the dirt. In the bottom of the third, it looked like the Scots were going to score after they loaded the bases. LC would escape the inning still up 5-0 thanks to a
Eli Folds punch out. The Panthers lead stayed at five until
David Smigelski hit
Rhett Mixon home on a single in the fifth. Maryville's hitting absolutely exploded in the bottom of this inning. Their first two points came off of a RBI double. This is when
Eli Folds rotated out for
Nick Morgan. Still in the fifth, the Scots cut the LC lead to 6-5 with a three-run homer. In the sixth, MC tied the game up at 6-6.
Nick Morgan would be relieved by
Caden Hare. Still in the sixth, the Scots took a 7-6 lead. The Panthers quickly responded, recapturing a 9-7 lead in the top of the seventh. The first pair of points came from RBIs by
David Smigelski and
Coy Phillips. This was followed by a Scot error that allowed Phillips to score. In the bottom of the inning, Hare pitched out of a jam after the first two MC batters got on. During the eighth,
Rhett Mixon extended the LC lead to 10-7 on a solo homer.
Eduardo Peralta came in to close out the game on the mound for the Panthers. The Scots scored one run but the Panthers held on to win 10-8 and force game two.
