Game details
Freshman Logan Willis started on the mound for the Panthers. The Waverly Hall, Ga. native has posted a 5.29 ERA with a 2-1 W/L record in 34 innings pitched this season. Junior Cooper Williams was the first Blazer pitcher of the day. In 29 frames, Williams holds a 4.03 ERA and a 1-0 W/L record. The Blazers grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the first after hitting a pair of RBIs. The Panthers quickly responded with an RBI by Coy Phillips and Adam Dorn. Going into the second, LC led 3-2. Willis rotated out for Nash Evans during the second. In the bottom of the inning, Joe Ruth extended the lead to 4-2. In fourth, Belhaven equalized the game at four apiece. Benjamin Epperley relieved Evans in the fifth inning. During the sixth, LC loaded the bases with just one out. That is when Rhett Mixon was hit by a pitch to put LC in front 5-4. Riley George was then walked to extend the Panthers lead to 6-4. Joe Ruth came up next and absolutely crushed a Panther grand slam to extend the Panthers lead to 10-4 in the sixth. This marked Joe Ruth's 354th career hit, breaking the NCAA Record for DIII Career hits. Folds stayed in for one inning before he rotated out for Nick Morgan. During the eighth, Riley George flied out to right field for an RBI sacrifice. Heading into the final frame, LC held an 11-4 lead. The Panthers would win 11-4.
