Women's Basketball Danny Talbert

Panthers Basketball cross West Point Lake to face the Point Skyhawks

LC Women's Basketball travels to Point University this Wednesday to battle for the title of the best on West Point Lake this Wednesday (Dec. 5). Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.

The Matchup
Following a crushing 89-77 victory over Oglethorpe University (Nov. 26), the LaGrange record now sits at 3-2. In that home win, forward Amanda Mclendon secured her season's third double-double after tallying a team-high 24 points and 10 rebounds. The gritty front court warrior averages a stellar 15 points and a CCS-best 10.2 rebounds per game. Leading LaGrange and the CCS in scoring with 18.4 points per game is senior guard Zyhia Johnson. The proven playmaker is not only making shots, but doing it at a superb 52% field goal clip. 

The Skyhawks of Point hold a 3-3 record following a bounce back 65-52 win against Middle Georgia State (Nov. 23). Senior guard Shakira Wilson posts a team-high 16.8 ppg average, while hovering around a 34% shot rate. Going over Wilson's career stats, she looks to be stepping into a new role as the lead offensive facilitator, averaging 12 more minutes and 8.4 more points per game than last year.

Panthers to Watch
One player to pay attention to this week is junior Laila Battle. The two-time All-Conference selected guard not only averages a solid 10.8 ppg, she also contributes heavily on defense, leading the team with 15 steals on the season. Be on the lookout for how Battle continues to make a difference at both ends of the floor.
