The LaGrange College Women's Basketball Team (2-2) takes on Oglethorpe University (3-2) in the second home tilt of the season as they face off Tuesday (Nov. 26) at Mariotti Gym.
The Matchup
The Panthers come into this game off a split result at the CCS/SAA Classic this past weekend (Nov. 16-17), dropping the first game to Berry College after leading for a majority of the game, but finished strong with a dominant 24-point victory over host Sewanee to head home with an even record. After losing last season's contest in an 82-73 final, they will look to avenge the loss with a much-appreciated home court advantage of which they have only been bested once by the Stormy Petrels in three meetings at Mariotti Gym.
As for Oglethorpe, they will look to preserve their winning record after an earnest 3-2 start to the year. After holding their own for a majority of the contest in a tough 79-60 loss to #7 Washington & Lee University, they were able to bounce back with a 25-point drubbing of Agnes Scott College to push their record over .500 on the season.
Players to Watch
The Panthers will look for offensive production from senior guard
Britney Chavez on Tuesday. The Birmingham, Alabama native is one of the team leaders in scoring with 50 points this season with 30 coming from behind the arc, good for a team-best 10 three's.
Keimarya Rivera will be a key piece for the Stormy Petrels' efforts on Tuesday. Leading the team with 44 rebounds and also 67 points in five games, the junior forward will be a major factor in setting the tone of play against a stout LC squad.
