LC Women's Basketball set to compete in CCS/SAA Classic

The Panthers head to Tennessee to take on Berry College (Nov. 16) and Sewanee in the CCS/SAA Classic this weekend (Nov. 16-17). All games are set to be played in Sewanee's home court, Juhan Gymnasium.

The Teams
The Panthers are 1-1 following a tight 70-66 overtime defeat to Emory University in the LC home opener (Nov. 13). Senior guard Zyhia Johnson led the Panthers with 24 points, shooting 56% from two and 33% from beyond the arc. Junior forward Amanda Mclendon secured her second-straight double-double, knocking in 19 points and pulling down a team-high 15 rebounds against the Eagles. This dynamic duo appears to be poised for another stellar season.

The Berry College Vikings hold a 1-0 record after they handled Huntingdon College in their season opener (Nov. 8). Leading the Vikings in scoring is senior guard Kenadie Lee. The 2023-24 First Team SAA guard tallied 14 points, shooting 33% in the 61-45 win over the Hawks.

Following back-to-back losses, the Tigers secured their first victory of the season against Covenant College (Nov. 13), bringing the Sewanee record to 1-2. Junior guard Olivia Falvey has averaged a team-high 14.3 points, shooting 40% from the field and 36% from three. Another Tiger who started the season off hot is junior forward Cydney Wright. Through three games, Wright has averaged 8.7 points and 8 rebounds per contest.
