The LaGrange College Panthers Volleyball Team (4-14) took a tough road loss Wednesday (Oct. 9) at the hands of the Middle Georgia State University Knights (6-10) by a final score of 3-0.
Match Details
LaGrange seemingly had solid footing to begin the first set, leading 4-3 early. Momentum quickly began to shift though as MGA took advantage of nine errors from the visiting Panthers to go up by as much as 10 late in the opening frame. The host Knights would ultimately capitalize on their late advantage and win the set 25-15 to lead the match 1-0.
The Panthers were much sharper in the second set, keeping pace with their opponents throughout. Trailing by just one in an 18-19 affair late in the set, LC had the opportunity to finish the second stanza strong to tie up the match. Sadly, a late 6-2 run from the Knights sealed a 25-20 win as the Panthers now found themselves in a 2-0 hole in the match.
Always up for the battle, LaGrange fought hard in the third set to keep the match alive. As with a majority of the match, however, LC found themselves playing catch up as MGA led 20-14 late in the third. Unfortunately for the Panthers, more attacking errors costing them precious points would lead to their downfall as the Knights secured the final set 25-18, taking home the match 3-0.
