The LaGrange College Panthers Volleyball Team (5-15) return home after a split result in this weekend's tri-match against Agnes Scott and host Maryville College in which they were bested by the Scots 3-0, but finished strong by taking down the Scotties 3-1.
First Match Details
The Panthers faced off with the Scots in their first match of the day, scoring 52 total points on the hosts in the three set loss. MC simply outpaced LC in the first set, winning 25-18 to take a 1-0 lead. The second set was much more competitive, as LaGrange led on three seperate occasions throughout, but could not quite finish down the stretch as the Scots took the second frame 25-20, now leading 2-0. The final set was all Maryville, as they made short work of the visiting Panthers 25-14 to win the match 3-0.
Second Match Details
The Panthers found their big bounce back win against the Scotties, racking up 99 points in their 3-1 victory. The first two sets were dominated by LaGrange, winning both by scores of 25-20 and 25-16, respectively. Unwilling to bend to the will of a rolling LC squad, AS responded with a huge third set win to keep the match alive as they took the third stanza 26-24. Unamused by the defiant efforts of their fellow visitors, the Panthers put forth one of their most dominant performances of the entire afternoon, as they won the fourth and final set emphatically 25-17 and took home their second CCS win of the season.
Top Panther Performers
Claire Titus led the Panthers offensively on the day with 16 total kills in two matches.
Murphy Boyett also made a huge impact on the court for LC, with 12 kills and four digs on the afternoon.

The Panthers hit the court again Wednesday (Oct. 16) in a huge home match against CCS foe Huntingdon College, a team that narrowly escaped the clutches of an LC victory in the last matchup between the two.
