Explosive second half secures LaGrange 3-1 win

Late goals by Robel Teshome and Lucas Duke pushed the Panthers past the Lions of Piedmont University, landing LaGrange a 3-1 CCS victory (Oct. 9). 

Game Details
The Panthers opened tonight's road match on the attack. In the first 45, LC out-shot Piedmont 11-5 with three landing on target. Despite the Panthers creating more opportunities, the Lions were able to sneak one past the keeper in the 24th minute. The hosts held a tight 1-0 lead at the break. Robel Teshome, Dylan Bailey and William Perry each tallied one shot on goal through the first half. 

In the 46th minute, junior forward Lucas Duke equalized the match with his first goal of the day. All of the sudden, the Panthers took control of the game and the floodgates opened. In the 75th, a penalty kick set up senior forward Robel Teshome with his seventh goal of the season. Less than 10 minutes later, Duke put the nail in Piedmont's coffin when he knocked in his second goal in the 84th. LC held on to win 3-1. 

Tonight's victory, secured the Panthers their first conference win of the season, improving the overall LC record to 3-8 (1-2 CCS). Senior goalkeeper Andrew Cole allowed just one goal, making five saves out of the 17 shots he faced. Cole also secured his second ever assist.

The Panthers host Asbury University this Saturday (Oct. 12) at 2 p.m. Senior Day celebrations will take place prior to kickoff at Panther Field.
