The Collegiate Conference of the South announced today (Oct. 30) the end of the year men's soccer awards. Voted by the head coaches from around the league, players can be selected to the First, Second or Sportsmanship Teams.
Robel Teshome and
Nick Griner both earned spots on the Second All-CCS Team, and
Tyler Hudson was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
One Panther who has been exhilarating to watch all season long is Robel Teshome. Hailing for Grayson, Georgia, the senior forward leads LC in points with 20, scoring eight goals and adding four assists—seven points more than his career total prior to this season (13). Teshome was named CCS Offensive Player of the Week twice this year: first thanks to his strong performances against William Peace University (Sept. 21) and Berry College (Sept. 22), and later for his four-point game in the win over Huntingdon College (Oct. 16). This outstanding season earned him Second Team All-Conference honors.Â
On the opposite side of the field, anchoring the LC defense this year has been sophomore Nick Griner. In his 14 appearances, the defender caused enough havoc for the competition that the CCS head coaches selected him for the Second All-Conference Team. Not only was a standout defensive player, the sophomore also snuck a goal past Pensacola Christian College on one of his two shots this season.Â
Wrapping up the 2024 CCS Men's Soccer honors for LaGrange is Tyler Hudson. The junior defender from Dacula, Georgia, earned a spot on the CCS All-Sportsmanship Team. Every year, the conference awards this honor to a player from each school who has demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship. Hudson not only did this, but he has also been a key contributor for the Panthers, competing in 11 games this season.
