Five unanswered second half LaGrange goals secured the LC Women's Soccer Team a 5-2 conference win over Huntingdon College (Oct. 15). This victory improved the Panthers season record to 5-7-3 (2-4 CCS).
Match DetailsÂ
The Panthers opened today's match driving the ball deep into the Hawks territory but were prevented from getting any clear shots. In the seventh minute, the visitors from Alabama jumped out to a 1-0 lead after a Hawks forward secured a wide open shot on goal. Despite the Panthers outshooting the Hawks 6-4, HC led 2-0 at the break.
Charlee Hunt finished with a team-high two shots on target.
Kaia King and Co. continued to battle in the second half, creating multiple chances early but nothing substantial. That was until a exceptional corner kick by
Kendyl Anderson was stuffed in by
Charlee Hunt in the 60th minute. At this moment, the tides began to turn, and everyone in attendance on this chilly LaGrange night could feel it. In the 63rd minute,
Haylei Hasan crushed a shot from 10 yards out to equalize the game at two apiece. Only five minutes later,
Kaia King secured the first Panthers lead of the game when she knocked in a goal from the bottom of the penalty area.
Haylei Hasan and
Kaia King capped off the night with one more goal each in the final five minutes. The Panthers went on to win 5-2.
