Panthers fall on the road to Piedmont

The LaGrange College Women's Soccer Team (5-8-3, 2-5-0 Collegiate Conference of the South) were bested by the Piedmont University Lions (7-4-4, 5-1-1 CCS) on Wednesday (Oct. 23) by a final score of 4-0.

Match Details
Things started disastrously for the Panthers, who needed a result of a win or draw in order to clinch their playoff spot tonight, as they conceded two goals in the first 10 minutes of play. The first goal came from Alison Witkiewicz, who netted the game's opening goal in the sixth minute to put her team in front 1-0 early. Sierra Judson doubled the Lions' lead just minutes later as she made good on a feed from Paige Kluba to go up 2-0. Things settled back down for nearly 30 minutes of play for the Panthers, as they searched for some kind of spark to ignite a rally. Their attempts to do so were thwarted even further, unfortunately, as Madison Johnson scored to give her squad a three-goal cushion heading into the intermission.

The second half did not offer much for the Panthers in order to muster a comeback, as the Lions continued to stifle their efforts to generate chances. Forward Taylor Crawford would effectively ice the game as she deposited the team's fourth goal into the net in the 68th minute.

Top Panther Performers
Charlee Hunt led the Panthers offensively with three shots on goal on the evening.

Anna Wright earned seven saves off 11 shots on goal while in net for LC.
