The LaGrange beach volleyball team played its first two matches of 2021 on Friday at the Strack Beach Volleyball Courts. The Panthers edged Huntingdon 2-1 after losing 3-0 to Lincoln Memorial.
"The girls played well during our season opener. Due to our indoor season being moved to the spring, we have only had four days to practice in the sand," said Coach Madison Machurek. "It was really neat to see them walk into these matches with confidence and resilience, regardless of the situation.
"Quite a few of our players have never played beach before and have immediately fallen in love with the sport. It's nice to see their eyes light up, especially during COVID-19 and the obstacles that come with being a student-athlete during the pandemic. We can't wait to play again on Wednesday at Huntingdon College."
