First-year LaGrange College Head Cheerleading Coach Nicole Joseph has a great vision for the Panther cheerleading program moving forward.
"I would love to see the program grow," said Joseph. "Cheerleading can evolve in many ways. I plan on striving to continue values, tradition, honor and commitment in our team and each other. The goal is to support as many athletic and community events as possible, while promoting positive game-day atmospheres."
The 2021-22 team has been led by co-captains in senior Madi Hite and junior Dazia Potts. Hite has been loyal to the program, as she is in her fifth year as a student-athlete. Hite and senior Jae White were honored during senior-day festivities prior to a football game against Huntingdon at Callaway Stadium on Nov. 13.
"I have enjoyed cheering on both the football and basketball teams," said Hite. "Being on the cheerleading team has let me express my leadership skills and love for the sport and school."
Other members of the team include junior D'Ashley Trammell, sophomores Jayea Gladden and Morgan Jones and freshman Cierra Talley. All seven team members have been pivotal in providing support and pride for the Panther teams.
"I am proud of my girls and the way they stood behind me after becoming the coach in the middle of the fall season," said Joseph. "These young women gave it all they had on the field, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for Panther cheerleading. I would like to see a solid foundation of trust and loyalty, along with organization, to make this an exemplary cheer program."
Joseph is focused on recruiting elite student-athletes. She is looking for people who are interested in being part of Panther Athletics. You must show Panther pride at home athletic events, community events and other occasions as directed by Joseph. No experience is needed. Everyone will get a chance to be evaluated individually and privately.
