MARYVILLE, Tenn. - LaGrange lost to host Maryville and Brevard in a USA South tri-match Saturday. The Panthers are now 4-16 overall and 4-9 in conference play.

Maryville topped LC 25-18, 25-11, and 25-11. The Panthers took Brevard to five sets before falling. It was the second time in three meetings the Tornados have prevailed in five sets.

In the Brevard match, the first three sets ended in 25-22 finals, with the Tornados taking a 2-1 lead. The Panthers evened the match with a 25-15 fourth set win.

LC took control early in the fourth set. The Panthers reeled off seven straight points to go up 9-4 and never trailed again. In the deciding fifth set, the Tornados went up 13-7. The Panthers scored six of the next seven points to get within a point. Journey Oden's kill made it 14-13. But Brevard got a kill for the winning point.

LC had four players in double figures in kills. Ariel Modeste led the Panthers with 14 kills. Oden and Kirsten Boyd each had 13 kills, while Mya Sterling added 10. Boyd finished her fourth triple-double of the season with 24 assists and 16 digs. Vianca Colon-Gonzalez had a double-double of 21 assists and 11 digs. Maggie Vo had a match-high 26 digs.

The Panthers host USA South rival Huntingdon for Senior Night on Wednesday in Richter Gym at 7 p.m.
