Box Score LaGrange spotted visiting Wesleyan the first set, then roared back to win the USA South match 3-1 in Richter Gym on Tuesday. The Panthers' second straight win improved their overall record to 3-13 and 3-6 in conference play.
Wesleyan (1-14, 0-8 USA South) led from the outset in the first set, winning it 25-10. The Panthers evened the match with a marathon 29-27 win in the second set. LC rallied to take the third set 25-22 and dominated the fourth set 25-6 to close out the match.
Kirsten Boyd recorded her second triple-triple of the season. Boyd had 10 kills, 21 assists, and 10 digs. Ariel Modeste led the team with 11 kills and a .474 kill percentage. Maggie Vo had a match-high 18 digs, while Karson Troth and Jharia Harris had 12 and 10 digs apiece.
The Panthers fell behind 21-18 in the second set. They staved off three set points by Wesleyan. With the set tied at 27, the Wolves had a set error, then an errant kill attempt to hand the Panthers the set.
In the third set. Wesleyan held a 21-17 lead. The Panthers reeled off six straight points to take a 23-21 lead. Boyd put down a kill off an assist from Troth and a Wesleyan attack error ended the set. LC jumped out to a 13-2 lead in the fourth set and never looked back, winning easily 25-6 to end the match.
The Panthers host Covenant and Piedmont in a USA South tri-match Saturday. The Panthers face Covenant at 12 p.m. and Piedmont at 4 p.m.
