GREENSBORO, N.C. - LaGrange picked up its first USA South win of the season with a 43-16 victory over Greensboro on Sunday. The game was pushed back a day due to the aftermath of Hurricane Michael.

The Panthers (2-4, 1-2 USA South) had a season-high 452 yards of total offense. They rushed for a season-high 193 yards and passed for another 269, despite turning the ball over five times in the game.

Cam Perkins was 16-of-27 for 168 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Caleb Speir was 4-for-5 for 91 yards and two touchdowns. Perkins rushed for 66 yards on 10 carries and had a 9-yard scoring run. Brendon Scott also had 66 yards rushing on just nine carries and scored on a 38-yard pass play. Tyler Benjamin had four catches for 76 yards and two touchdowns.

Perkins staked the Panthers to a 14-0 first quarter lead on Scott's scoring play and a 37-yard TD to Benjamin. LC took the 14-0 lead into the locker room at halftime. Greensboro (1-5, 0-3 USA South) cut the Panthers' lead to 14-9 in the third quarter.

The LC defense got in on the scoring when Peyton Haynes returned a fumble 55-yards for a touchdown and a 21-9 lead. Perkins' touchdown run upped the lead to 29-9 early in the fourth quarter. Leading 29-16, the Panthers closed out the scoring as Speir went to Benjamin from 15 yards out and then to Jake Hayes on a 46-yard play for the 43-16 final score.

The Panthers host Maryville for Homecoming on Saturday at 2 p.m.
