Box Score 2 RALEIGH, N.C. - LaGrange rallied to down Methodist in five sets in splitting two matches at the USA South Quad Match hosted by Meredith.
The Panthers (11-13, 3-5 USA South) got a combined 23 kills from Maggie Ivester and Katie Chancellor in the win over Methodist. Ivestor had a team-lead 12 kills, while Chancellor added 11.
The Panthers started slowly, losing the first set 25-7. They bounced back with a 25-15 second set win but the Monarchs took a 2-1 lead with a 25-22 third set win.
In the fourth set, the Panthers never trailed. Leading 23-21, Sydney Marshall and Kaitlyn Sitterson combined on a block, then Ivester closed out the set with a kill for the 25-21 win.
The Panthers fell behind 8-5 in the decisive fifth set. They trailed 9-7 before running off five straight points for a 12-9 lead. Madison Grapp got a kill to make it 14-10 and the match ended on a Monarch serving error for the 15-11 final score.
In the final match of the day, the Panthers fell 3-0 to the host Avenging Angels (17-9, 9-1 USA South). Chancellor led the Panthers with seven kills.
The Panthers play at Piedmont on Wednesday in a USA South match.
