DANVILLE, Va. - Averett scored in the final minute to edge LaGrange 3-2 in a USA South game Saturday.

The Panthers (1-11-1, 0-5 USA South) got goals from freshman Diego Torres and senior Adrien Vakerics. For both of them, it was their first goal of the season.

Averett (3-8, 1-3 USA South) scored seven minutes into the game to take a 1-0 lead. Torres got the equalizer with an assist from Vakerics in the 20th minute to tie the game. The Cougars regained the lead nine minutes later to lead 2-1 at halftime.

Vakerics scored unassisted in the 71st minute to tie the game 2-2. The Cougars got the game-winner with just 51 seconds left as Sam Muir scored for the 3-2 final.

The Panthers play at Greensboro on Sunday in another USA South game.
