Freshman Megan Lee had a double-double as LaGrange opened the home portion of its schedule against Birmingham-Southern in the CEB Gym on Friday. The Panthers (5-6) lost a hard fought 3-1 match to their unbeaten counterparts.

Lee had a team-high 10 kills and 16 digs. Sterling Ancrum and Leslie Rhoades had five kills each. Mary Katherine Schmitz had 21 assists and Ella Weymiller had a team-best 20 digs.

After losing the first set 25-13, the Panthers bounced back with a 25-21 win in the second set. Birmingham-Southern took the third set 25-19 then survived the fourth set with a narrow 27-25 win to close out the match.

The Panthers host Oglethorpe on Thursday in the CEB Gym at 7 p.m.
