MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The LaGrange volleyball team opened its 2012 season with a pair of losses to Mississippi College and Huntingdon College in the Huntingdon Jubilee tournament.

Mississippi College won 3-0 over the Panthers, sweeping the games 25-14, 25-16 and 25-15. The Panthers were also swept 3-0 by Huntingdon, losing a close match by scores of 25-19, 25-21 and 26-24.

Morgan Elrod led the Panthers against Huntingdon with 10 kills, tying with Huntingdon's Kelly Kahumoku for match honors. Leslie Rhoades added six kills, while Destinee Briskey had five. Erin McKinstry and Ella Weymiller had match highs of 28 assists and 14 kills respectively.

Briskey also had five kills to lead the Panthers against Mississippi College. McKinstrey and Nicole Wilson each had four kills. Weymiller had 11 digs in the match.

The Panthers finish the tournament Saturday with matches against Birmingham-Southern and Piedmont.
