DJ Hayes enters his second year as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications (2025-26).
Hayes received his Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication at Georgia College State University in 2022 and has worked in sports media roles for the Macon Mayhem of the SPHL (2019-2021), Georgia College Athletics (Spring 2022), the Union-Recorder (Fall 2023) and the Atlanta Gladiators of the ECHL (2023-2024).
His passion for working on the college campus comes from his time in student ministry from 2017-2023. In college, he spent time in leadership roles with the Wesley Foundation (Leader & Intern 2018-2022) and HydroLove (President 2021-2022). He spent his first year after graduation on staff with the Wesley Foundation as their Worship & Production Coordinator for the 2022-2023 school year, where he had the opportunity to mentor students and help them grow both personally and professionally.
Naturally people-oriented, Hayes has thrived in forward-facing roles throughout his professional career, spending time as a camp counselor at Athens Y Camps (summers of 2017-2019), college intern at The Gathering Place (Summer 2022) and also hospitality roles at Roam - Work, Meet, Office (2023-2024) and Chick-Fil-A (Spring 2024).
In addition to his love for people and sports, his faith drives him daily to pursue excellence and spur others on to do the same in his career as a Media & Communications Specialist. His goal is to one day be a Director of Media Relations & Communications for a sports team or college athletics department.
